Implant site preparation with minimal trauma is an important factor in
osseointegration and success of implant. Piezoelectric bone surgery
was introduced as a modern technique for micrometric osteotomy with
precise, controllable action. Preservation of osteoblast cell
viability is critical to achieve successful osseointegration. The main
advantages of this technique are precise and selective cuttings, the
avoidance of thermal damage, and the preservation of soft-tissue
structures providing excellent clinical and biological results,
especially for osteocyte viability. Through the application of
piezosurgery, implant-site preparation, bone grafting, sinus-lift,
ridge splitting or the nerve lateralization became technically
feasible.
