ABSTRACT
Immediate placement of dental implant into fresh extraction sockets has been available to the clinician for many years and, when adequately treatment planned, offers significant chairside time savings to the patient and dentist. While, peri-operatively, implant primary stability is the main determinant of success, adequate understanding of soft and hard tissue biology is key for long-term esthetic success. This lecture will highlight the most important diagnostics factors that affect success of immediate implants, discuss how soft and hard tissue grafting procedures can improve long-term esthetic results and/or be used in the management of complications, and describe how digital workflows can be predictably used to further shorten treatment times.
LECTURE OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this session, attendees should be able to:
1. To understand the most important parameters affecting treatment outcomes in anterior and posterior immediate implants.
2. To highlight relevant soft and hard tissue grafting procedures to enhance esthetics of anterior immediate implants.
3. To understand how digital workflows can predictably shorten treatment times, especially in posterior areas.
4. To describe common pitfalls and complications of immediate implant placement and their surgical and prosthetic management.
