Nikos Mattheos is a periodontist and an academic teacher. Having started in the University of Athens, he went on to attain a Masters degree in Health Informatics at the University of Malmö, Sweden, where he continued with PhD and completed specialist training in Periodontology. He then completed a 3 year-residency in Fixed Prosthodontics and Implant Dentistry in the University of Bern, Switzerland under Professor N.P. Lang. He has held professoriate academic positions in Sweden, Australia and Hong Kong, including designing and directing of postgraduate MSc, D Clin Dent and MDS programmes and hospital clinics in Implant Dentistry. Other past academic appointments include Associate Dean for Postgraduate education and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Education in the University of Hong Kong. He is a world-class expert in dental education, in particular through on-line learning and media. He maintains private practice focused in oral rehabilitation and implant dentistry in Hong Kong and he is currently Visiting Professor at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand and affiliated researcher in the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Sweden. He is an ITI Fellow.
